Dr. Lauren DiMartino-Combs is a Tallahassee native who has enjoyed living on the north side of town since she was a kid. She has always loved cats and dogs and was even an avid equestrian for many years growing up. As a Maclay high-school graduate, she sought her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at the University of Florida and worked her first veterinary job as a kennel technician that summer at Buck Lake Animal Hospital. From then on, she was hooked.
Throughout the rest of college, Dr. Combs worked at a feline veterinary hospital as a veterinary technician which gave her a unique perspective on working with cats in the clinical setting. She has since had extensive experience working with both dogs and cats with the goal of not only keeping them healthy, but also as happy and calm as possible even when visiting the hospital. She is now Fear Free and Feline Friendly certified to help facilitate a stress-free and comfortable vet visit.
After graduating from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Combs returned to her roots with her husband, David, and started her career as an associate veterinarian at Oakwood Animal Hospital. She became Medical Director of Oakwood in 2016 and since then has been asked to lead the team at Ox Bottom Animal Hospital. Her professional interests include dermatology, oncology, ophthalmology, and behavioral medicine. When she is not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, Raylan and Lyndon, watching movies, and reading. Her furry family includes three cats, Abel, Zinnia, and Cain.
